Our battery chargers and our inverters are used with switchgear, motor starters and process control systems in industrial and public utilities substations.
Some of our customers include:
ALCOA, Rio Tinto Alcan, Ultramar, ABB, Areva, Schneider Electric, Hydro-Quebec, Manitoba Hydro, Université de Montréal, etc.
Gentec industrial battery chargers (or Gentec rectifiers) have been designed to provide a very reliable power source for batteries and their connected loads. They can be used with any type of industrial battery. SCR (thyristors) technology with the conduction angle controlled by microprocessor (or by analog circuit on some series) is used. The charger capacity ranges from 10 to 600 amperes.
Several models or series such as the famous new RS SERIES are available.

New Series!

Gentec battery chargers were designed to operate with all types of stationary batteries (lead-acid, VLRA, Ni-Cd, etc.).
Depending on your application and on the load type, for example 25 kV breakers, we will be able to size, offer and supply the type of stationary battery suitable to your 24 VDC, 48 VDC, 110 VDC, 125 VDC, 220 VDC, or 250 VDC system.

Gentec industrial inverter systems were designed to supply a very reliable sinusoidal voltage to critical loads. These inverters are of the on-line type. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology is used to control high frequency power transistors (iGBT).
The system is equipped with a very quiet inverter (DC/AC converter), a static switch, and a manual bypass switch to isolate the system during maintenance.
A microprocessor controller ensures waveform generation (PWM), voltage synchronization and regulation even when the inverter is powering non-linear loads. In addition, it ensures inverter measurement (voltmeters, ammeters, frequency meter) and monitoring (comprehensive alarm system).
Two series are available:

Gentec uninterruptible power systems (UPS) feature the ability to work with a battery voltage of 125 VDC, a requirement of some customers which is hard to meet by most UPS manufacturers. Note that the input may be single-phase or three-phase voltage, but the output is always single-phase voltage only. These on-line UPS are of the double conversion type. The inverter section uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technology to control high frequency power transistors (iGBT).
Only one series is available:

Over the years, Gentec has developed or made available many products that are compatible with our battery chargers in order to supply complete DC power systems.
